Katja Manz

I´m a human geographer specialised in urban research as well as cultural and social geography. My special interests are in the perception of urban space, and the methodological questions on how to grasp sensory, atmospheric and experienced aspects. In addition, I am particularly interested in experimental (excursion) methods by using audio and visual data presentation. I have studied geography, urban studies and psychology at the University of Tübingen and worked at the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography in Leipzig. In addition to my academic work I offer workshops and lectures about experimental urban research methods. From 2018 to 2021 I was curator at smac - Staatliches Museum für Archäologie for the special exhibition The City. Between Skyline and Latrine.
